“Employer” means a business with an employer account on Skillet. “Job seeker” means a person with a job seeker account, including after they are hired. Calling a business an employer doesn't make Skillet anyone's employer.
The short version
- Right now, during our launch period, job posts are free. The launch period is set to end on June 30, 2027.
- After the launch period, each employer gets one free job post. After that, a job post costs $45 for 30 days. Or you can use a plan: $45 a month for up to 2 posts live at once, or $85 a month for up to 5.
- For shifts, you pay a fee only when you accept a job seeker: 20% of what the job seeker earns for the shift, at least $5. There is no shift fee during the launch period.
- Job seekers don't pay to use Skillet.
- A job post is live for 30 days. We don't refund job posts or plans automatically. If something went wrong, email us.
- A shift fee is refunded in full if the job seeker cancels, or if you cancel more than 24 hours before the shift starts. Otherwise we keep it.
- To ask for a refund, email hello@skilletjobs.com.
Right now: the launch period
While our launch period lasts, you pay nothing. The launch period is set to end at 11:59 p.m. Oklahoma time on June 30, 2027.
- Every job post that goes live during the launch period is free. What counts is the moment it goes live, not when you made it. A post still waiting for us to check your business when the launch period ends is not covered. It can still go up free with your one free post, if you haven't used it, or with a free spot on your plan. See What pays for a post.
- A post that goes up during the launch period stays live for its full 30 days, even if the launch period ends in the meantime.
- There is no shift fee for any job seeker you accept during the launch period, even if the shift itself happens later.
- Skillet can't take card payments yet, so nothing you do today is charged.
After the launch period
Each employer gets one free job post, once. Posts that went live during the launch period don't use it up. The first time you put a post up after the launch period, it's free, unless a free spot on your plan covers it. That includes putting an old post back up after its 30 days. After that, the prices below apply.
Who pays
- Job seekers use Skillet for free. We don't charge job seekers to make a profile, apply for jobs or message employers.
- Employers pay to post jobs, and pay a fee when they fill a shift.
- Skillet doesn't pay anyone for work they get here, or handle wages. The employer pays the people it hires directly.
- When paying is switched on, you'll pay on the Skillet website. The phone apps don't sell anything, so Apple and Google aren't involved. Refunds come from us.
- Prices are in US dollars.
Job posts
| How you post | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Single job post | $45, one time | One post, live for 30 days |
| Starter plan | $45 a month | Up to 2 job posts live at once |
| Growth plan | $85 a month | Up to 5 job posts live at once |
A plan lets you have 2 (Starter) or 5 (Growth) job posts live at the same time. Each live post uses one spot on your plan.
- Every job post is live for 30 days. The 30 days start when the post goes live, not when you pay.
- Posts on a plan also end after 30 days. You can put one back up for another 30 days at no extra cost while your plan has a free spot.
- If we haven't checked your business yet, your post waits. Once we've checked it, the post goes live if you already paid for it, or if something in What pays for a post covers it. If nothing does, it stays off the site until you pay for it. Its 30 days start when it goes live.
- Plans have a 2-month minimum. That means you pay for at least 2 months: $90 for Starter or $170 for Growth.
- Plans cover job posts only. They don't cover shift fees.
- If you close a post on your plan, its spot is free for another post.
- Plans aren't on sale yet.
What pays for a post
When a post goes live for a new 30 days, we check these in order:
- During the launch period, it's free.
- If your plan has a free spot, the plan covers it.
- If you haven't used your one free post, that covers it.
- Otherwise, you pay $45 for it.
Refunds for a single job post
- We don't refund a $45 post automatically. That includes closing it early, marking it filled, letting its 30 days run out, or getting no applicants.
- If something went wrong, for example you paid for a post that never went live or you were charged twice, email us at hello@skilletjobs.com and tell us what happened.
- If we refund a $45 post in full, or you dispute the charge with your bank, that post can't be reopened for free. Putting it back up costs the same as a new post.
Refunds for plans
We don't refund plan payments automatically. If you think a plan charge is wrong, email us at hello@skilletjobs.com.
When a plan ends
This also applies if your plan stops because a payment didn't go through.
- Posts that are already live stay live until their own 30 days end.
- After that, putting a post back up costs the same as a new post.
- Reopening a closed plan post early also needs an active plan with a free spot. See the next section.
Reopening and renewing a job post
Reopening (inside the 30 days)
- If you close a job or mark it filled, you can reopen it for free while it is still inside its 30 days.
- Reopening doesn't add days. The post still ends on its original date.
- Reopening is not free if the post used a plan and that plan has ended or all its spots are in use. It is also not free if the post was a $45 post that we refunded in full or that you disputed with your bank. In these cases the post goes back up as a new 30-day post, paid for as shown in What pays for a post.
Renewing (after the 30 days)
- After a post's 30 days end, putting it back up starts a new 30 days. It costs the same as a new post.
- You keep the people who already applied.
A post we took down for breaking our rules can't be reopened or renewed.
Shift fees
Shifts are one-time shifts you fill with a job seeker. This is how the fee works.
- Posting a shift is free. You pay a fee only when you accept a job seeker for it.
- The fee is 20% of what the job seeker earns for the shift. The smallest fee is $5.
- The employer pays this fee. We never take it out of the job seeker's pay.
- If the shift pays by the hour, the job seeker earns the hourly pay times the hours.
- If the shift pays a total amount, the job seeker earns that amount.
- Tips are not counted.
- Hours count from the shift's start time to its end time. If a shift ends after midnight, the hours after midnight count too.
- We charge the fee to your saved card when you accept a job seeker.
- During the launch period there is no fee.
Examples
| Shift | Job seeker earns | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| $15 an hour, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. (6 hours) | $90 | $18 (20% of $90) |
| $150 total for a catering shift, plus tips | $150 (tips not counted) | $30 (20% of $150) |
| $12 an hour, 2 hours | $24 | $5 (20% would be $4.80, which is less than the $5 minimum) |
Shift fee refunds
- Cancelling a shift before you accept anyone costs nothing. There is no fee yet.
- If the job seeker cancels an accepted shift, we refund your fee in full. Job seekers can cancel any time before the shift starts.
- If you cancel more than 24 hours before the shift starts, we refund your fee in full.
- If you cancel 24 hours or less before the shift starts, or after it has started, we keep the fee.
- If the job seeker doesn't show up, or the shift doesn't go well, we don't refund the fee automatically.
- If a job seeker cancels and you accept someone else for the same shift, that is a new fee for the new job seeker.
- If something went wrong with a shift, email us at hello@skilletjobs.com and tell us what happened.
Posts we take down
- If a post breaks our rules (see our Terms of Service), we can take it down. You can't reopen or renew a post we took down.
- We don't give automatic refunds for job posts we take down.
- If we take down a shift that already has an accepted job seeker, the fee follows the same rule as when you cancel: refunded in full if it is more than 24 hours before the shift starts, kept if not.
- If you think we made a mistake, email us at hello@skilletjobs.com.
- If we put your whole account on hold, your posts are hidden and you can't put new ones up, the same as a billing hold (below). You also can't send messages or job offers, leave reviews, or search for job seekers until the hold is lifted. A hold doesn't pause or cancel a plan.
Disputed charges and billing holds
If a charge looks wrong, please email us first at hello@skilletjobs.com. We can often fix it faster than your bank.
- If you dispute a Skillet charge with your bank or card company (a chargeback), we put a billing hold on your account right away.
- We can also put a billing hold on your account for other payment problems.
- A disputed $45 post can't be reopened for free.
While your account has a billing hold
- You can't put up new job posts or shifts, or reopen posts.
- You can't accept job seekers for shifts.
- You can't message job seekers who haven't applied to you, unless they've already written back to you.
- A hold doesn't pause or cancel a plan.
- Your posts are hidden from the public and from search. You, and job seekers who already applied, can still see them.
- Job seekers can't apply to your posts.
- Your posts' 30 days keep counting. If the hold is lifted before a post's 30 days end, that post comes back.
To sort out a billing hold, email us at hello@skilletjobs.com.
